Something to explain what this does

Accessibility for Ireland

Seanad Éireann Bill

Established in 2004, Direct Access is one of the leading accessibility consultancies working in Ireland. Since our very first project undertaking Accessibility Appraisals for the Dublin Luas Green line extension between Sandyford and Brides Glen we have grown to help organisations understand how to implement the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission Act 2014, the Irish Sign Language Act 2017, the Disability Act 2005 and the Building Control Act.

We go beyond statutory legislation to draw on best practice from BS 8300:2018 on the design of accessible buildings and the Building for Everyone – Universal Design series.

Accessibility Appraisals

Our Accessibility Appraisals work with architectural and construction firms enable innovative and creative buildings to be designed with access at the outset avoiding costly retrofitting further down the line. This includes the production of Disability Access Certificates to show compliance that where works are built according to the design it will meet the requirements of Part M of Building Regulations.

And our accessibility audits review established premises to set out short, medium- and long-term options to increase access. Quite often these are simply low cost yet efficient management procedures.
